Suicide Silence is warning fans to stay away from bootleg merchandise to honor its singer Mitch Lucker, who died Thursday, Nov. 1, after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle crash in Huntington Beach on Halloween night.
The Riverside/Corona-rooted metalcore band announced via Facebook that an official t-shirt and memorial fund is being set up.
Lucker, who grew up in Riverside, is survived by a 5-year-old daughter, Kenadee, who he often brought on stage with him at the band’s shows.
“We appreciate everyone trying to help out, but there is no existing fund at this time. Please check back here for official updates,” the band posted on its Facebook page.
On Sunday, the band posted a stronger warning on its Facebook page warning fans to stay away from bootleg merchandise on EBay and online stores.
Please do not purchase any bootleg RIP shirts from Ebay or other online stores. We want to ensure that those of you who wish to make such purchases will have your money going to the right place & that you’ll receive a quality commemorative product. An official t-shirt & donation fund will be surfacing this week and nothing officially connected to the cause currently exists. Please continue to check this page to keep informed.
The band posted a photo from the vigil in Huntington Beach at the accident site on Thursday night on its Facebook page as well. Huntington Beach Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash on Main Street to call 714-536-5666.
There was also a vigil in Riverside Thursday night at Back to the Grind, where Lucker had planned to be for the Tattoo Artist Perception Slideshow Exhibit at ArtsWalk, with a number of close friends he had grown up with and known from his early days playing music at the defunct Showcase Theatre in Corona.
