AUDIO FILES: Listen to the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, 22 Jacks

I love the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. I saw them something like seven times before they split and then I went to one of their first reunion shows at the Avalon in Los Angeles a few years back. One of my college friends actually flew in for about 36 hours just to see that show.

Here are two of my favorite Bosstones tracks. Up first is “Simmer Down.”

“Where’d You Go?” will always be one of my favorites, too.

So back in 2000, I met Bosstones leader Dicky Barrett after he sang onstage with 22 Jacks at the old Axis in Boston, where they were opening for Lit–a band on the bill for x103.9’s Merry Meltdown next month.

I love, love, loved 22 Jacks and was so sad when they went their separate ways. Luckily, I can still hear singer Joe Sib on the radio every week and guitarist Steve Soto is still playing with The Adolescents. Sib’s the host of Complete Control Radio, the weekly show (aired locally from 10 a.m.-midnight on 98.7 FM) that seems to raid my punk record collection.

Joe’s also a comedian and has been gaining a following around SoCal, but the band’s album “Going North” will ALWAYS be one of my favorites. Here’s “On My Way.”
