AUDIO FILES: Listen to New Kids on the Block’s Christmas album

You wouldn’t believe how many New Kids on the Block songs I still know by heart. I remember listening to both Led Zeppelin and NKOTB in third grade and when the band came out with its Christmas album “Merry, Merry Christmas,” a friend made me a cassette copy until I was able to buy my own.

I just feel like something fun today, so the post won’t feature anything else NKOTB-related (although I will say that seeing them at the Staples Center in 2008 was one of the best birthday presents ever).

“Last Night I Saw Santa Claus” is the one song I still bump from this album routinely in my holiday playlists. It was by far the catchiest song on the album, in my humble opinion. I also love when Joe McIntyre tells Jonathan Knight that Santa’s pulling out a saxophone from the big and a sweet solo worthy of Sexy Sax Man ensues.

The most remembered song on the album is probably “Funky, Funky Xmas,” with its cheesy dialogue and all.

And since one version of “Funky, Funky Xmas” is never enough, here it is on “The Arsenio Hall Show.”

Want more holiday music? The artists I’ve been featuring this month are listed under the disturbing Wham! photo.

Wham! The other outtakes from the “Last Christmas” single are even more disturbing. (Contributed Image)
