Sick Puppies have played X103.9’s Christmas show every year.

The Australian trio embodies the spirit of hard rock that the San Bernardino station champions.

From the time the combo got to the stage, it was an onslaught of rock, with leader Shim Moore bounding around the stage with fury, but also melody, backed up by the rhythmic thunder of bassist Emma Anzai and drummer Mark Goodwin.

Highlights included “My World,” “Maybe” and “All the Same,” the latter which prompted hundreds of fans to bust out their cell phones and/or lighters to sway back and forth.

The set was very much “Shim Says” with the crowd responding to his commands, throwing their hands in the air, cheering and singing along every time he asked them.

“You’re Going Down” brought the energy to a head, with Moore diving into the crowd, guitar still strapped to him to end, the liveliest set yet. Photos by Staff Photographer Terry Pierson.
