Los Angeles rapper Murs may have leaked Aesop Rock as a performer for the 2013 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival during his video announcement for the 2013 Paid Dues lineup on Thursday.
After he announced 2012 Coachella vet Kendrick Lamar with collective Black Hippy and the rest of the initial lineup for Paid Dues (including Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, De La Soul, Immortal Technique, Dom Kennedy and more), Murs answered questions on the video stream that fans sent via Twitter.
He solicited recommendations for performers from festival fans and responded to the suggestion of Aesop Rock by saying that the San Francisco-based artist has been asked routinely. Then he added that fans could see Aesop Rock at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Hear the Aesop Rock Coachella mention in the video here right before the 43-minute mark.
This hasn’t been the only Coachella news of the week. Yesterday I wrote about an email from Songkick that may have leaked The Rolling Stones, Daft Punk, Phoenix and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs as Coachella 2013 performers.
Here’s my favorite Aesop Rock collaboration, with Evilnine on “Crooked.”
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival dates for 2013 are April 12-14 and April 19-21 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.
Want more Coachella 2013 predictions? I tag all of mine Coachellaology.
Quick catch-up if you’re just joining us: I’ve covered Coachella since 2007 and I posted my first round of predictions, my opening bracket for Coachellaology, if you will, a couple of months ago. The first round of predictions: Mumford and Sons, Deadmau5, Blur and Local Natives. Then, Audio File readers got into the act and second round included the obligatory Daft Punk prediction, plus The Stone Roses, Watch the Throne, Depeche Mode and Eminem. Third round: Nine Inch Nails/How to Destroy Angels, Queens of the Stone Age, Run DMC, Rocket from the Crypt reunion and Passion Pit. Fourth round: Sigur Ros and Pearl Jam, the latter celebrating 20 years since the band’s 1993 show at the Empire Polo Club for promoter Goldenvoice that planted the Coachella seed. Then I posted about Nick Cave, Tegan and Sara and Converge. Last week, I predicted the Airborne Toxic Event, too, plus wrote about The Rolling Stones after that date showed up on their app. Then, Songkick sent an email out to subscribers that listed The Rolling Stones, Daft Punk, Phoenix and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs as playing the festival before it was rescinded.
