I’ve been revealing my favorite albums and EPs from Inland Empire-based artists all week long on the Local Favorites list. I’ve been revealing them randomly (I don’t believe in rankings). You can see the rest at theLocal Favorites link or pick up a copy of The Press-Enterprise on Friday, Dec. 28.
I first saw this next band open for Reel Big Fish a couple of ears ago at The Vault in Temecula. Since then, they’ve played with pretty much every touring punk band that’s come through Southwest Riverside County.
Strike Twelve
“Moonshine”
Sometimes you need a dose of immaturity and Temecula pop-punk band Strike Twelve makes being sophomoric so much fun on “Moonshine.”
The band’s new album has songs inspired by pagers falling into toilets and beer pong.
“All a Riot” and “The Beer Pong Song” are standouts.
I was surprised to hear that the band recorded most of the album in a bedroom–it is one of the best produced releases I’ve heard in 2012. I also love that the band was started by its members when they were in high school. Now they all have serious grown-up jobs and look to the fun of the band to escape.
