Today I’m revealing the final two releases on my Local Favorites list for 2012. You can see the entire list at the Local Favorites link or you can pick up a copy of The Press-Enterprise today, Dec. 28.
Up first is a band I’ve been covering since its members were going to college in Riverside. Since then, they’ve been featured on indie music site Pitchfork and have been getting solid reviews around the world.

“Night Escape”
The New Division’s new EP was released digitally in November, but the physical copy won’t arrive until 2013. Don’t wait that long to get it. Even hipster tastemaker Pitchfork has picked up on Riverside’s indie new wave export.
The band (which takes their name from inspirations Joy Division and New Order) collaborated with 2012 Coachella vet Keep Shelly in Athens on the ethereal and melodic title track. Take a listen:
