When I took over the music beat from my predecessor many moons ago (back when the original MySpace was still the best way to find local music), one of the local bands that he kept raving about was Venus Infers.
Band leader Davis Fetter grew up in Riverside and they played some really, really great music.
Fetter has been plugging away at his solo project, which include some great solo tracks that have elements of shoegaze akin to the Jesus and Mary Chain as well as more modern alternative hooks a la The Killers.
The latter came to my mind when I watched the new video for his song “Born.”
Here’s “Is It Over Now,” another one of my favorites from him.
And just for good measure, here are a couple of tracks from the Venus Infers days. I still love “You’re Making Me Nervous.”
