As we await the information about the 2013 Coachella Festival lineup and tickets, here’s something I came across when I was writing up something on the Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival’s Battle of the Bands–the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio is accepting reservations for offsite camping for the twin editions of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and the Stagecoach Country Music Festival.
There are some conditions–there is no tent camping–the fairgrounds will only be open for RV camping only and you can only have six campers per spot. Everyone must be at least 18 years old or accompanied by a parent or guardian and you are required have to purchase a $50 shuttle pass to and from the festival. There’s also a 1:30 a.m. noise curfew.
Read the full list of rules and regulations at the Riverside County Economic Development Agency site.
The fairgrounds are in Indio, close to the Empire Polo Club where the festivals are held.
The RV camping will be open for Coachella and Stagecoach before the festivals through the Monday after each–April 11-15 for weekend one of Coachella, April 19-22 for weekend two of Coachella and April 26-29 for Stagecoach, according to the registration and application page.
Prices are $600 for full RV hookup (limited availability) and $500 for electric hookup only. Shuttle passes are $50 each and companion vehicle passes are $40 each. See the registration and application page for more details.
RV camping was allowed at Coachella for one year. The festival has consistently offered tent camping, though. Stagecoach limited its RV camping for 2013 in an effort to curb out-of-control partying.
Speaking of the Riverside County Fairgrounds, its main event, the Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival, is bringing Lifehouse, Wynonna and Aaron Lewis to town in February. You can get more information on that at www.datefest.org.
