The reports started last week about the Rolling Stones being out for the Coachella 2013 lineup, but now NME has posted an interview with singer Mick Jagger where he confirms the news.

“We’re not gonna do Coachella, ‘cos it’s too early… And we’re not gonna be ready to go by April. But we’re not gonna stop,” he told the magazine.

Tell us who you think will headline Coachella 2013 and be entered to win a gift card for camping gear.

There are a couple of things I find interesting about this–first, The Stones’ mobile app is where the rumors originated back in December after an April Indio date showed up. Then, Jagger told Rolling Stone Coachella never approached the band about playing.

Whatever the story is, it doesn’t look like we’ll have everyone’s dream reunion of Jagger and David Bowie’s cover of “Dancing in the Street.”

However, my dream is still that Bowie magically appears. I even wrote Bowie a birthday letter trying to entice him.

In other Coachella news today, The Selecter appears to be headed to Indio, based on their tour schedule.

I’ve covered the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and the Stagecoach Country Music Festival since 2007. All of the Coachella prediction posts here are tagged with Coachellaology.
