The Dear Hunter, the project of Canyon Lake resident Casey Crescenzo, has announced a new album and tour.
The album, “Migrant,” will be released on April 2 on Crescenzo’s own imprint, Cave & Canary.
The tour, which kicks off March 12 in Arizona and ends on April 27 at The Glass House in Pomona, will feature Riverside’s own Naive Thieves as the opener.
The tour will encompass some deep cuts from The Dear Hunter, too. From the press release:
“In the past, due to the time constraints we faced on stage, we focused very narrowly on representing whichever record we were currently promoting. The time is finally right to represent the vastness of the band’s discography, and to give longtime fans something special. There are a great deal of songs we haven’t played in years, and a few we have never played. We hope everyone is as excited as we are.”
“Migrant” was recorded in New York after The Dear Hunter played Coachella 2012. The new album is a departure from how Crescenzo has previously written songs. He said the new material was written from a first-person perspective for the first time.
Here’s a trailer for the album.
Even though this interview is from last year (just before Coachella, actually) it mentions Crescenzo’s creative process. Casey is one of he most genuine, down-to-earth musicians I’ve interviewed. I’m very excited to hear the new work.
The band will also release the one-night-only performance of EP collection “The Color Spectrum” on DVD on March 12, 2013.
Tickets for The Dear Hunter and Naive Thieves April 27 at The Glass House go on sale Saturday, Jan. 26, at noon. Tickets are $15. Visit www.theglasshouse.us for more information.
