The lineup for the 2013 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was announced on Thursday, Jan. 24. There are a ton of bands to catch (set time conflicts might be more difficult this year than in any year prior) and as always, Coachella has pulled out some great bands as reunions.

1. Jurassic 5
After six years, Jurassic 5 is back for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. From Los Angeles, the alternative hip-hop act has played a number of diverse venues and tours, including Lollapalooza and Warped Tour. Chali 2na and Cut Chemist have shown up as solo acts at other Inland festivals, but this is a big hip-hop reunion that more people should be talking about. I recommend “Quality Control” as a good starting point album for the group.

2. Blur
Yeah, they got back together a year ago, but it’s really exciting that Blur’s first U.S. date (at least announced so far) is Coachella. Singer Damon Albarn is a Coachella regular–having appeared previously with Gorillaz and the Good, The Bad and the Queen. Also, Blur played Coachella in 2003, in one of their last American shows.

Blur’s biggest hit stateside was “Song 2” off their self-titled 1997 album, but my favorite album is 1994’s “Parklife,” which includes that title track, “Girls & Boys” and “End of a Century.”

3. The Stone Roses
The Stone Roses are in the same boat as Blur–Britpop stars beloved by music fans who haven’t played the U.S. in forever. Everyone was eyeing them to play Coachella 2012. I think the twin Britpop headliners for Friday, April 12 and 19 is brilliant.

“Love Spreads” off the band’s 1994 album “Second Coming” is probably their most well-known song, but “She Bangs the Drums” off 1989’s self-titled debut is my favorite.

4. The Postal Service
The Postal Service is even bigger now than when they released their lone album, “Give Up,” 10 years ago. The collaboration between Jimmy Tamborello and Ben Gibbard (whose primary band, Death Cab for Cutie, has gone on to widespread success) is getting a much-deserved reunion.

My only question is–Will Jenny Lewis be there? (I also posted a lot more about The postal Service pre-Coachella. You can read more analysis on that blog entry.)

Are there other reunions you’re excited about? Who are you wishing would have reunited for Coachella but hasn’t so far?
