Tickets for the 2013 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival go on sale Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Tickets for the 2013 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival go on sale Tuesday, Jan. 29.

On Thursday, Jan. 24, Goldenvoice revealed the lineup for the 2013 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and on Tuesday, Jan. 29, tickets go on sale for the twin weekends, set for April 12-14 and April 19-21 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.

Here’s what you need to know about the tickets:

-They go on sale at 10 a.m. Pacific on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

-Create an account in advance to purchase tickets. There is a link for weekend one and a separate link for weekend two. After you register, you will be sent an email with your password, which you’ll need to access the site.

-Know what kind of tickets you are planning to get in advance. The Coachella Festival Passes page details the prices and availability of the passes for the weekends. Toggle back and forth between the weekends on the upper left of the screen to see what’s available. Also have a backup plan if your first choice isn’t available. Friends of mine purchased GA tickets with shuttle passes in 2012 when the regular GA passes were gone by the time they made it to the front of the queue.

-Keep a browser window/tab open to Coachella’s Facebook page. In the past, the festival updated it as various passes became unavailable.

-You might be waiting for a while–that happens when thousands of people go online to purchase tickets at once. Be prepared to spend time waiting to get tickets. If you are planning to to go the festival with someone else, it’s not a bad idea to have them sign up and try to get in, too.

-Of note: There aren’t any VIP or non-bundled general admission passes (those without camping/shuttle passes) on sale for weekend one. All types of passes are available for weekend two. That tells me that

-There aren’t any layaway options available. You have to pay in full.
