Earlier this week I posted about how the Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved The Do LaB’s proposal for Lightning in a Bottle at the Lake Skinner Recreation Area and now I have some more information about the festival.

Lightning in a Bottle will take place July 11-15 at Lake Skinner (where the Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival happens every June) and there will be a special pre-sale for tickets this month.

The Do LaB, which has an installation of art, music and performance at the Coachella Festival every year, has put on Lightning in a Bottle around Southern California for eight years.

At first it started as an intimate festival with handwritten invitations but grew into a festival of art, music, yoga, seminars and more. It has previously been held in Santa Barbara County and more recently, at Oak Canyon Ranch in Orange County. The festival had to move from Orange County this year when new zoning forced out large-scale music festivals because the park is along Conservancy-owned land.

At Lake Skinner, the event will be expanded to allow 15,000 attendees.

Here’s a look at what Lightning in a Bottle 2012 looked like:

Also, from 10 a.m. Feb. 12 through 10 a.m. Feb. 14 there will be a discount on pre-sale tickets for the event.

Those pre-sale tickets are full weekend passes (July 11-15) and have three different tiers. Tier one is $195; Tier two is $215; Tier three is $225. During that pre-sale, car camping passes are $95 and RV camping passes (including full RV hookups) are $350.

The public on-sale for tickets will start on Monday, March 18 at 10 a.m.
A full weekend pass (which runs Thursday-Monday) will be $240 in advance and $275 at the door. A two-day pass (listed by LiB as Saturday-Monday) will be $175 in advance and $200 at the door. A one-day pass (Sunday only) is $90 in advance and $110 at the door.

If you’re under 18 you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Kids 17 and older pay the adult price; kids 13-16 years old pay $120 (at the door only) and kids 12 and younger get in for free.

The lineup of music, speakers, performance art and workshops will be announced on April 23.
