UPDATE: Reporter John Asbury was at the vigil on Sunday night. Here’s his story about the vigil. I also just added another post with some videos of Larry Robinson performing.
With the tragic loss of Larry Robinson, Southern California has lost not only a great musician and songwriter, but someone who also taught and inspired others to make music.
Robinson, of Fallbrook, died after being bound and beaten during a robbery at Pete’s Music in Temecula on Friday night.
I came to know of Robinson’s music after meeting his son, Evan, who was then in a group called War Stories and is now a member of Electrik People. I remember in talking with both Evan and Reid Curby, guitarist for both of those bands, talking about Larry’s music.
Here’s a performance with Larry and Evan from a few years ago.
There will be a vigil for Robinson at 8 p.m. tonight (Sunday, March 24) at Pete’s Music, 28780 Old Town Front St. in Temecula.
There is also a GiveForward fundraiser set up to benefit Larry’s family.
