Violent Femmes
Do you like American music?
I like American music and the pride of Milwaukee, the Violent Femmes, is back and armed with a quirky catalogue that scored so much teenage angst over the years.
I’m really interested in seeing the crowd the Violent Femmes bring to their set at Coachella. If you’re 25 or younger, did you even hear the Violent Femmes on modern rock radio?
Listen to these: “Blister in the Sun,” “Add It Up,” “Kiss Off”
Advice: Bring sunscreen so you don’t end up with actual blisters in the sun.

Get ready to learn the countdown in “Kiss Off.” It’s should be kind of epic.

New Order
If you don’t know New Order, it’s the band the members of Joy Division formed after singer Ian Curtis committed suicide. If you don’t know Joy Division, are you sure you picked the right festival in Coachella?
Personally, I’m excited for Bernard Sumner to return to Coachella. Another project, Bad Lieutenant, was scheduled to perform a couple of years back, but got hung up by the Icelandic volcano.
Listen to these: “Bizarre Love Triangle,” “Blue Monday”
Advice: When you hear the band play “Blue Monday,” don’t turn to someone and say, “I know this song! Orgy originally did it!”

OMD
OMD, a.k.a. Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, will release a new record, “English Electric,” on April 9. However, you probably have heard the band if you’ve ever watched the Molly Ringwald and Andrew McCarthy Classic “Pretty in Pink.”
Listen to these: “Enola Gay,” “If You Leave”
Advice: If you are from the wrong side of the tracks and a super rich person wants to date you and asks you to the prom and then bails because his/her friends are superficial jerks and he/she is a spineless being, don’t take them back, even if “If You Leave” is playing.

Sparks
Los Angeles purveyors of quirk Sparks have been around since the 1970s, but the band of brothers Ron and Russell Mael really came to prominence in the U.S. in the 1980s, particularly with “Cool Places” a hit that featured the Go-Go’s Jane Wiedlin.
Listen to these: “Cool Places,” “I Predict,” “Music You Can Dance To”
Advice: This is going to be a quirky set. Expect and embrace weirdness.
