COACHELLA 2013: Last minute tips for the festival

Here’s a quick rundown on my tips for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which kicks off today at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.

-Water, water, water
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: Dehydration is serious business. Drinking water is a good idea.

I keep a bottle in my car for the end of the night. Even though it’s usually way too warm, I’m happy to have it after the long trek back to my car.

-Stop and get cash on the way
Other than some select places inside the festival (Zia Record Exchange, Coachella Boutique, Merch stand), you need cold, hard cash. If your bank is en route to the Empire Polo Club, it’s worth it to stop by on the way, although there are ATMs on site.

-Remember where you park
You can download an app for that, like Falcon, or use landmarks. Remember that counting palm trees in the dark is more difficult and the care next to you when you arrive may not be there when you leave.

-Bring in hand sanitizer.
Trust me, you’ll want it at some point.

-Want to get close? Pick up ear plugs.
You can get a bunch of cheap ear plugs at a drug store for like $4. Small investment to protect your valuable asset of your ears.

-Turn on the “Find Me” location app on your phone.
If you lose your phone, this could help reunite you.

-Sunscreen
Don’t be lobsterman. Nobody wants to be lobsterman.
