Sunday afternoon, the stages at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival were dotted with delights.
The Three O’Clock’s reunion in the Gobi Tent was a bright spot of jangly power pop. The Los Angeles-based band is one of the reunion acts this year.
Then I went to check out JEFF the Brotherhood at the Outdoor Theatre, who are transitioning from being a two-piece band into a quartet. I also got to spend some time with guitarist Jake Orrall and drummer Jamin Orrall and talk music and more. Look for that interview in a bit.
I’ll say this–while I have been air-drumming a lot this Coachella, JEFF the Brotherhood was the first time I broke out my air guitar moves on the Empire Polo Field. Jake was also out in the crowd, leaning on the barrier into the crowd.
They are psychedelic rock meets punk in the best garage ever. They’re also doing the festival circuit this year so if you get a chance, catch them at Coachella two or Bonnaroo.
