COACHELLA 2013: Fun despite a broken foot

Two weeks ago, Ruthie Cason rolled her ankle. The X-ray showed a broken foot.

But she already had her Coachella ticket — and a plane ticket from Miami to Southern California.

Ruthie Cason didn't let a broken foot stop her from having a blast at Coachella.

Ruthie Cason didn’t let a broken foot stop her from having a blast at Coachella.

“How was I supposed to not come?” she said Sunday night, one of the diehards who stayed for the Red Hot Chili Peppers despite high winds that kicked up a wicked windstorm. (My apologies for not being able to get a better picture in the dark.)

Cason, 27, said she still had a phenomenal time at her first Coachella, undeterred by being in a walking cast boot.

“It’s been amazing. Everybody’s been so nice,” she said. People were being especially careful not to bump into her.

She did feel like she was missing some of the element of the festival by not being able to wade out into the crowd. But she didn’t feel she should not have come.

“I’ve never had so much fun.”
