Beyond the thumping beats of the Sahara Tent there is a peaceful place of gardens, fountains and the sweet fragrance of flowers in the air.
It is the rose garden area, open to those with VIP passes.
Roses blooming in yellow, pink, peach, red and white make it a colorful oasis.
Around the garden, there are beer and cocktail stands, bathrooms and even a stand hocking champagne.
I feel like this is the secret garden of Coachella, a place that is more symbolic of what the festival grounds are usually used for–polo–than the throngs of festival goers.
Tiffani Kiest, of Yucaipa, is working one of the beer and cocktail stands in the garden.
This is her first Coachella.
“It has been an absolute blast,” she said.
Although sparsely populated in the afternoon, she said the garden will be packed by the evening.
“The people are crazy. They’re all having a great time,” she said.
