So when they announced the Coachella lineup, those of us blessed enough to get to cover it for the Press-Enterprise start “calling” the bands we wish to photograph and blog about.
I called Jello Biafra. Now I love the Dead Kennedys, but my true love for the Jello came from his work with one of my all time favorites Mojo Nixon.
His set included a few new songs including one titled “John Dillinger” in which he used the microphone as a pseudo gun which was followed by mimed manic typing.
Towards the end, he took of his shirt, wore it as an impromptu hat/wig, and the band started into “Holiday in Cambodia.”
Over all the set was what you would expect from Jello Biafra, a highly dramatic punk extravaganza.
