When hardcore meets Coachella anything can happen–even the most in hardcore of things, like Sacramento’s Trash Talk leading everyone in a chorus of “Happy Birthday” for the roommate of lead singer Lee Spielman.
Another un-hardcore thing–introducing the guitarist’s mom and grandfather on stage.
After starting on stage, Spielman spent most of his time during the set inside the pit with the world’s longest microphone cord.
When he was on stage, he was swinging it around him.
He also got meta about Coachella and the Tupac Shakur hologram and it’s first words in 2012 being “What’s up, Coachella?”
“Say something a little more insightful,” he said.
Back to the hardcore, at one point Spielman came back on stage with blood on his forehead, the sign of a real hardcore show, and at the end, invited the masses to jump into the VIP area adjacent to the stage but warned them after the song they would have to go back.
Fun fact: Alien Ant Farm’s Terry Corso and his lovely wife Sarah were checking out the set, too.
