STAGECOACH 2013: An afternoon with Hayes Carll

Hayes Carll says he never gets to play gigs as cool as Stagecoach, that he’s normally in a place with a mechanical sheep.

The singer had a full band and played a Friday afternoon set before some Hayes Carll super fans in the audience.

Among my favorites in his set were “Drunken Poet’s Dream” and “Bad Liver and a Broken Heart.”

He also spoke about the death of country legend George Jones putting a damper on the festivities.

“Hopefully he’s looking down and he’d be proud of everyone who’s out here today,” Carll said.
