One of the more popular and unique food choices at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival is their barbecue alley.
Pushed off into the corner, more than a dozen barbecue groups compete in the annual cook-off.
Here festival goers can get ribs, brisket, chicken and pork, fire cooked and seasoned to perfection. I had a taste of Rooftop Barbeque’s ribs and their sister outlet Basement Barbeque’s brisket, both really tasty.
These two competitors are run by a group of friends and family from Lake Elsinore. Aunt and niece, Debbie Angelone and Lauren Wagoner, were rejoice at the scores the two stands received, with Basement coming in second place overall and receiving the One Reserve Champion award.
“The guys started cooking the brisket at 3 a.m.” said Wagoner.
And they expect to stay busy through the night, selling $3 tasting cups of each barbeque item, of which they have already sold out of their ribs.
And you thought your day at Stagecoach was a long one.
