Macy Gray has covered Metallica. She’s also performing in Temecula.

Both of those statements seem a little far-fetched, but I assure you, they’re true.

Gray, the raspy singer who had a breakthrough hit with “I Try” in 1999, recorded a covers album that she released in 2012, titled “Covered,” and it included her take on tracks by Metallica, My Chemical Romance and Radiohead, just to name a few.

Gray and her unique voice will be visiting Monte de Oro Winery in Temecula on Sept. 7.

Golden Crown Productions is putting on the show, but tickets aren’t yet on sale. The company is putting on three other shows of note at Temecula wineries this summer, though.

The first is on Friday, June 28, when Big Country, with Mike Peters from The Alarm on vocals, visits Wiens Family Cellars. On Saturday, July 20, The Fixx will perform at Wiens; and on Friday, Aug. 23, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy returns to wine country with a show at Wiens.
