Devo played Riverside’s Raincross Square in the 1980s.
Back in the day, Riverside was a legitimate touring stop for bands, something that new wave pioneers Devo are celebrating today.
The band posted a “This day in Devo history” type post on its Twitter page today about a show 33 years ago at Raincross Square in Riverside.

Random tidbit: there was riot at a Devo show at that venue. As I’ve been told, Devo was supposed to play two shows, but the second show was canceled and a riot ensued.
P-E Staff Photographer Kurt Miller said that the canceled show was made up not too long after at the same venue.
Is this that second show that was canceled? (I went to go search in our archives, but with the move they’re not easily accessible to me right now).
