RIVERSIDE: Fox adds shows, Steve Martin performance to be filmed (UPDATE)

UPDATE: (4:40 p.m.)  Ticket prices have been added to the shows for which they are available.

The Fox Performing Arts Center has added some new shows to its fall lineup and is offering pre-sale tickets for the shows Thursday, Aug. 22 through Saturday, Aug. 24.  The tickets will go on sale to the general public via Ticketmaster on Sunday, Aug. 25.

And with the new shows, the Fox should get ready for its close-up. Steve Martin’s performance on Friday, Oct. 11 will be taped for the long-running PBS series “Great Performances.” He will be joined by the Steep Canyon Rangers and Edie Brickell. The air date is expected to be in 2014.

Martin, who in addition to being a popular actor, comedian and author has forged a burgeoning career in  bluegrass music, has performed locally at Pechanga Resort and Casino and also at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in recent years.

His forthcoming album, “Love Has Come For You,” is a collaboration with Brickell.

Note that the performance and taping will start at 8 p.m.  for that event so you will want to arrive early. Tickets will be $49-$89, with the “limited best seating” tickets (the ones in the very front), priced at $99.

But Martin’s not the only one coming to the Fox.  There are some returning guests as well.

Colbie Caillat, who performed a well-received concert at the venue in February 2012, will appear on Friday, Sept. 27. She’s best known for her hit, “Bubbly.” Tickets will be $39-$79, with the “limited best seating” tickets , priced at $90.

Also Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, which has performed in Southern California venues including the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert and Moronco Casino Resort and Spa, will appear at the Fox on Friday, Oct. 18. There’s also a comedy show on the calendar. Anjelah Johnson is so popular that her show at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 is sold out. The Fox has added a second show for Nov. 1 at 10:30 p.m.  Tickets for Anjelah Johnson will be $25-$37, like the original show, with the “limited best seating” tickets priced at $49.

The pre-sale will run Thursday, Aug. 22 through Saturday, Aug. 24 and tickets will be available only at the Fox Performing Arts Center box office, either by walking up in person or by phone.

The box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is also open on all show days until show time.

The tickets will be on sale via Ticketmaster on Sunday, Aug. 25.
