UPDATE 4/6/2014: Want to get tickets to the sold-out 2014 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival? Here are some tips, including a way to get an official pass that doesn’t involve a scalper. Also, don’t forget to check out the iGuide’s special Coachella section for the latest details.

So you saw that the 2014 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival lineup was released and you’ve decided you want to shake it like a Polaroid picture when the OutKast reunion takes the stage at the Empire Polo Club in Indio this April.

How do you get tickets for Coachella 2014? We can help. Consider this your primer for your best chance of getting Coachella tickets.

When do Coachella 2014 tickets go on sale?
-UPDATE: Tickets for Coachella 2014 sold out in three hours. They had gone on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10 via Coachella.com and only through Coachella.com. If you have a buddy that tells you that you can get them on an aftermarket ticketing site, that’s not a guarantee that you’re getting a real ticket.

What do I have to do to buy tickets online?
Register on the Coachella ticketing site ahead of time. You will want to do this before 10 a.m. Friday. If you and a friend are both trying to get the tickets, you should both register. Doing this for the first time? Coachella has a walkthrough with pictures and everything.

When is the festival again?
-Weekend 1 is April 11-13 and weekend 2 is April 18-20. Coachella is already alerting folks that your ticket chances are better for weekend 2 and recommend registering for that.

How much are tickets?
-A general admission pass is $375 and a VIP pass is $799. Car and tent camping are $85 for either. A shuttle pass alone is $60 and a general admission with a shuttle pass is $435. VIP parking is $150. Again, the only GA option for weekend 1 is the $435 shuttle/GA pass combo.

But I REALLY want to go to Weekend 1? What are my options?
-General admission festival passes for Weekend 1 must be purchased as a shuttle combination and those are $435 ($375 for a ticket and $60 for the shuttle pass). Yes, that’s still the price even if you aren’t using the shuttle.

I’m broke. What about those payment plans?
-If you were banking on the layaway option, you’re out of luck–that only worked if you did the pre-sale last May.

OK. I signed up, I’ve got money and I’m ready to get my tickets. What now?
-Patience, grasshopper. Coachella draws nearly 200,000 people out to the Coachella Valley for those two weeks every year and since the fest has consistently sold out, lots of people are trying to log in and buy tickets at the same time.  Be patient at the 10 a.m. on-sale time tomorrow. Also, if you’re going with friends, it’s always good for multiple people to register and be prepared to purchase.
