It’s another week so it’s time for another PE Live.
This week it’s a very special edition with The Fingers. We filmed the jam-inspired Redlands band at Hangar 24 on Halloween and they played some of their new material for us.

We have two PE Live sessions coming up and it would be great to see you there.
First, on Tuesday, Nov. 12, we are filming Naïve Thieves at ProAbition in Riverside.
Naïve Thieves are one of the breakout indie rock bands in the region. Their 2011 EP, “Le Sheik Rhat,” was produced by Casey Crescenzo of The Dear Hunter.

Then, on Nov. 16, we’ll be at Hangar 24 Brewery in Redlands to catch the blues magic of the Chase Walker Band.
Walker, a teen guitar phenom, was a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition earlier this year.
He and his band will perform at the show and then will be followed up by previous PE Live guest, My Own Holiday.

Ascension will perform at the Lake Elsinore Grand Prix over the weekend. (Contributed Image)
The Lake Elsinore Grand Prix returns to the Diamond in Lake Elsinore this weekend and in addition to the off-road racing action, there will be local music over the two days.
On Saturday, Nov. 9, Simon and Hunter, Midnight Satellites, Late Night Revival and Don’t Kick Jimmy will perfom.
On Sunday, Nov. 10, Ascension and Indica Roots will be on stage.
Ascension just played the Whisky A Go-Go this week, opening for The Halo Method, a group that includes members (and former members) of Papa Roach, Evanescence, In This Moments and more.
The young rock group has been gaining steam since taking home the last Band Wars title at The Vault concert venue in Temecula.
11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, 500 Diamond Drive, Lake Elsinore, free admission, but parking is $10-$20.

When the BellRays aren’t globe-trotting and selling out shows in Europe, you might find the group at home in Riverside, but a hometown show is a rare treat.
And the setting for the band’s dynamic punk meets the blues meets soul on Sunday, Nov. 10 is even more special.
The band will be playing Mario’s Place in Riverside and it’s an early show, so no complaining about work the next day. Wear comfortable shoes. There will be dancing.
Plus, the great Bucksworth will be joining the fun.
Seating is limited, so you want to get there on the early side.
Mario’s is also hosting Bob and Lisa, as in Bob Vennum and Lisa Kekaula of the BellRays with their acoustic project,on Friday, Nov. 8 and the Union Drifters on Saturday, Nov. 9.

It’s November, the time of year when the music journalists around the world start digging out from under the columns of towering CDs on their desks in an effort to work on the daunting best-of lists.
I’ve been trying to keep up with everything as the year has gone on, but I can tell you that without a doubt this has been the biggest year for Inland Empire music since I took over this beat from my predecessor. It’s also been the best.
I don’t want to miss someone, so if you released music in 2013 and you’re from the Inland Empire, please fill out the form below. I’m limiting it to EPs and albums. And if you are planning to release something in the next month or so, please let me know.

Winter Jam, the immensely popular Christian music and worship tour, returns to Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario on Friday, Nov. 8.
The tour is kicking off its West Coast run with the Ontario date, which will feature Newsboys, Thousand Foot Krutch, Crowder, Tenth Avenue North, Plumb, NewSong and Building 429. There will also be a pre-jam show with Love & the Outcome, Everfound and Dara Maclean.
Parking will set you back $10 and there’s a $10 donation requested to attend. Traditional tickets are not sold for this event.

If Cleveland rocks, one of the reasons why is that it spawned Filter.
The rock band, led by Richard Patrick, was formed after Patrick was a touring member of Nine Inch Nails in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Filter heads to M15 in Corona on Tuesday, Nov. 12 in support of the new album “The Sun Comes Out Tonight.”
If you haven’t heard anything off the band’s new album, you might have heard the big hits, such as “Take a Picture” and “Hey Man, Nice Shot.”
Fight or Flight and We As Humans will also perform.
The venue also has some other notable names coming to town, including DJ Quik on Friday, Nov. 29, Orgy on Friday, Dec. 20 and Lita Ford on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014.

The Jezebelles have released a new video for “Chuck You.” (File Photo)
If you have ever wanted to act out on a revenge fantasy on your best friend’s cheating significant other, The Jezebelles have a video for you.
The all-girl rock choir, which hails from the Inland Empire, just released the video for the awesome song “Chuck You,” which is about getting rid of a no-good guy.
They filmed it around Riverside and you might recognize downtown spots like Back to the Grind, Pixels and Mission Tobacco Lounge. Let ‘Em Have It Productions, which did Alien Ant Farm’s “Let ‘Em Know” video as well as Hawthorne Heights’ “Golden Parachutes,” outdid themselves with this one.
Chuck is played by Sound Preservation Society’s Justin Fox and you will also see cameos from some other Inland musicians in there, too. Watch and enjoy!

Just like the Dose of Adolescence video release last week, we were fortunate enough to have The Jezebelles in the studio for PE Live a while back. You can even watch The Jezebelles perform “Chuck You” in our studio. You might recognize some of the video’s props, too.

As next year’s touring schedules start to trickle out there is more Coachella 2014 prognostication to be had.
Did Mogwai end up on “The Island” in “Lost”? (Contributed Image)
Scottish post-rockers Mogwai announced upcoming tour dates this week and there’s a mysterious gap in the first half of April. The band will wrap up a European tour in France on April 3 and pick up in the U.S. in New Mexico on April 21.
The 2014 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will take place April 11-13 and April 18-20 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. The band doesn’t have any Southwestern U.S. dates listed beyond New Mexico and the only West Coast dates announced are Portland, Ore. and Vancouver, Canada, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see San Francisco, Las Vegas, Phoenix and more in that week between the twin Coachellas, should Mogwai be there.
Mogwai previously performed at the festival in 2004 and 2006.
They also have a new album, “Rave Tapes,” coming out soon. New material is one way to get on the lineup.

Another band that has new music that I’m really hoping to see at the Empire Polo Club is The Dismemberment Plan.
The indie rockers hail from Washington D.C. and their album “Emergency & I” is still one of my favorites. I was at their farewell show in 2003 at the 9:30 Club and it was fantastic.
Admittedly, this is a band that is on my Coachella Wish List, but I think there’s a chance The D-Plan could head west.
They’ve been back together for a little while, but only released a new album, “Uncanney Valley,” in mid-October. They also played Riot Fest this year. The band is playing a Los Angeles date (at the Goldenvoice-run Fonda) in December, but hopefully they’ll swing back to Indio in the spring.

A long time a go in a galaxy far, far away, Band Wars began–actually, it was only a couple of years ago and The Vault in Temecula isn’t that far, but the venue brings back the popular local band series on Saturday, Nov. 9.
The last Band Wars winner, Ascension, recently opened for Andrew W.K. at the venue.
Saturday’s lineup includes Five Waters of Fire, Voltage Control, Day Dreams, Radio-Active, Cause7ate9, The Third Invasion and more.
The series will continue Nov. 15 and Nov. 16, with the finale set for Nov. 30.
