Insomniac’s longest-running electronic dance music festival is making its debut at San Manuel Amphitheater in Devore and amid the thumping bass and the wild costumes will be yours truly.

Nocturnal Wonderland celebrates the story of “Alice in Wonderland” as well as EDM heavy-hitters like Fatboy Slim and Porter Robinson.

For everyone trekking out to the grounds of San Manuel Amphitheater in Devore for the five stages of music and more at Nocturnal Wonderland on Saturday, Sept. 21, Insomniac has posted the set times for the fest.

If you haven’t seen it, I interviewed Insomniac CEO Pasquale Rotella about his longest-running festival last week. Insomniac has also posted the festival’s dos and don’ts.

RIVERSIDE: Los Lobos, Robert Cray to play the Fox

My colleague Alicia Robinson has the latest update on what’s going on with Live Nation taking over the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside as well as the other city-owned downtown entertainment venues  and it looks like the current operator will be in for a while yet.

A new show was added to the fall schedule recently–Robert Cray and Los Lobos Riverside’s own celebrated bluesman Rod Piazza and his Mighty Flyers.

The show is Thursday, Nov. 7 and tickets are on sale now.  They are $27-$87, before fees. You can pick them up at the Fox box office or with more fees over at Ticketmaster.

The phone number for the box office is 951-779-9800 and it is located at the theater at 3801 Mission Inn Ave. in Riverside.

The box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is also open on all show days until show time.

MURRIETA: Get Shamrocked Irish Fest features The Tossers

Celebrate all things of the Emerald Isle as the Get Shamrocked Irish Festival heads to Murrieta’s Town Square Park this weekend.

The festival has notable performers, including Celtic punk band The Tossers and the Young Dubliners on Saturday, Sept. 21 and The Fenians and Dublin City Rockers on Sunday, Sept. 21.

There are plenty of other performers, plus comedy, Irish dancing and storytelling and bagpipes and drums.

Saturday is open to adults 21 and older only, but everyone is welcome on Sunday.

Saturday admission is $20 per person. Sunday admission is $15 for those older than 12 and $1 for kids 12 and younger. Tickets are $30 each for the full weekend.

One of alt-rock’s legendary bands is coming to San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino in Highland on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Jane’s Addiction, known for songs such as “Been Caught Stealing,” “Stop” and “Mountain Song,” will headline the show. Portugal. The Man will open.

Tickets go on sale to the public at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20 via Ticketmaster and they will be $25 and $39, before fees.

Since the show is being done with LA-based altrock radio station KROQ 106.7, members of the KROQ Street Team members can access tickets from 10 a.m. Sept. 19 through Friday, Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. The password will be mailed to Street Team members. You can still sign up for the Street Team and get access, though.

The shows at San Manuel start on the earlier side. The doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Also, you have to be 21 or older to enter the casino and attend the show.

PERRIS: Uncle Kracker, Hoobastank to play Southern California Fair

The Southern California Fair returns in October and for the first time in a few years, the event, which takes place at the Lake Perris Fairgrounds, is attracting big-name entertainment.

Among the notable artists are Uncle Kracker, Hoobastank (who recently wrapped up a tour with Riverside’s own Alien Ant Farm), Kutless and more. The fair runs Saturday, Oct. 5 through Sunday, Oct. 13.

The SoCal Fair will also host tribute acts to Creedence Clearwater Revival and Journey not to mention the demolition derby action.

Hoobastank kicks off the big-name entertainment on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Then, Uncle Kracker will be joined by up-and-coming country artist Eric Paslay on Thursday, Oct. 10. Christian rockers Kutless will perform on Friday, Oct. 11.

All concerts are free with admission to the fair. Admission prices are $8 for adults (everyone 12 years old and older), $4 for children ages 5 to 11 and kids 4 and younger get in for free. Parking is an additional $8. You can pick up pre-sale tickets at a discount ($5 for adults, $3 for kids 5-11) if you purchase them online through Oct. 4.

After a weekend of metal awesomeness with Iron Maiden, here’s a change of pace with some catchy indie rock from Redlands’ own The Shape of the Earth.

We caught up with the band a week and a half ago at Hangar 24 Brewery. Here’s “Pharmaceuticals.”

REDLANDS: Sound Preservation Society visits The Vault

Riverside’s Sound Preservation Society will perform at The Vault Martini Bar in Redlands on Sunday, Sept. 15.

The Fancy Grins and The Calicos are also performing at the show, which follows the Downtown Art Walk in town.

The Battle of San Bernardino kicked off its full day of face-melting metal with a stage set up on the concourse at San Manuel Amphitheater on Friday, Sept. 13.

Up and coming band Warbringer opened the festivities and thrash elder statesmen Overkill also performed on the stage.
