SAN BERNARDINO: See photos of Brad Paisley’s performance

Brad Paisley brought his tour supporting new release “Wheelhouse” to San Manuel Amphitheater in Devore on Saturday, Aug. 24, with the support of thousands of country fans.

TEMECULA: Katy Perry, One Republic support Elektrik People

Elektrik People has been getting some love for new single “I Love My Life” from some famous friends, including pop superstar Katy Perry and band One Republic.

While Elektrik People is based out of Los Angeles these days, their roots are actually in Southwest Riverside County. Singer Evan Robinson, who grew up in Fallbrook, and guitarist Reid Curby, who grew up in Temecula, first became musical collaborators years ago when they would trade demos of their musical projects when they worked at the Temecula Creek Inn.

They went on to form Onethousand Pictures, which later turned into War Stories, which also included Elektrik People member Svend Lerche and crafted radio-ready pop/rock. (On a side note, War Stories’ music still holds up. “Lion” and “What Does God See” still give me goosebumps when I hear them.) As War Stories ended, Robinson, Curby and Lerche went for more of an alternative electronic pop sound with Elektrik People.

They’ve been getting a lot of acclaim around the LA music scene, especially with a residency at Bootsy Bellows earlier this year.

Elektrik People filmed the video for “I Love My Life” at Bootsy Bellows and one of the club’s owners, actor David Arquette, is featured in the video, as is model Hannah Beth. You can watch it below. WARNING: There are some suggestive situations in it, so be aware if you’re watching in a room full of elementary school students.

Robinson has an incredible voice. He’s one of those people who could sing the phone book and make it sound like art. Although, I guess in this digital age it would be singing a contact list out of an iPhone, but you know what I’m saying.

The Jezebelles are playing two shows in SoCal this weekend–tonight (Aug. 23) at the Mission Tobacco Lounge in Riverside and on Sunday, Aug. 25 at the House of Blues in Anaheim.

SAN BERNARDINO: Art Laboe show tickets on sale

For 11 years radio legend Art Laboe has brought his show to life on the stage and it returns Saturday, Sept. 14 to San Manuel Amphitheater in Devore.

This weekend, you can get a deal on tickets from 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23 through 10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25. All seats are $20 and include all fees and general parking.

Laboe, as always, will host the show, which features Zapp, The Chi-Lites, Peaches and Herb, GQ, Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes, The Temprees, Shannon, Sly, Slick & Wicked and MC Magic featuring Sophia Maria and Amanda Perez this year.

You can pick up the tickets online at LiveNation.com, by phone at 800-745-3000 or in person at a Ticketmaster retail outlet. After this weekend, tickets run $17 to $95 before fees.

SAN BERNARDINO: Metal Madness heads to Stinger’s

If you need a metal fix, there’s an all-day show at Stinger’s in San Bernardino just for you.

Manntis, which has played a handful of shows in the past year, is on the bill, as are Contortion, Jahmbi, Dyer, Long Beach Vagrant, Profecia, A Rise of a Tyrant, Throw the Goat, Light Up the Eyes and the debut show of Iron helm.

X103.9 FM DJ Dirty D is hosting the show.

You have to be 18 or older to go to the show, but tickets are only $10. You can pick them up via www.ticketweb.com.

3 p.m. Saturday, Stinger’s Bar and Nightclub, 194 W. Club Center Drive, San Bernardino, $10, 18 and older only.

RIVERSIDE: Fox adds shows, Steve Martin performance to be filmed (UPDATE)

This is not Steve Martin busking in front of a Taco Bell. He is performing with the Steep Canyon Rangers with a high billing at the 2012 Stagecoach Country Music Festival.

UPDATE: (4:40 p.m.) Ticket prices have been added to the shows for which they are available.

The Fox Performing Arts Center has added some new shows to its fall lineup and is offering pre-sale tickets for the shows Thursday, Aug. 22 through Saturday, Aug. 24. The tickets will go on sale to the general public via Ticketmaster on Sunday, Aug. 25.

And with the new shows, the Fox should get ready for its close-up. Steve Martin’s performance on Friday, Oct. 11 will be taped for the long-running PBS series “Great Performances.” He will be joined by the Steep Canyon Rangers and Edie Brickell. The air date is expected to be in 2014.

Martin, who in addition to being a popular actor, comedian and author has forged a burgeoning career in bluegrass music, has performed locally at Pechanga Resort and Casino and also at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in recent years.

His forthcoming album, “Love Has Come For You,” is a collaboration with Brickell.

Note that the performance and taping will start at 8 p.m. for that event so you will want to arrive early. Tickets will be $49-$89, with the “limited best seating” tickets (the ones in the very front), priced at $99.

But Martin’s not the only one coming to the Fox. There are some returning guests as well.

Colbie Caillat, who performed a well-received concert at the venue in February 2012, will appear on Friday, Sept. 27. She’s best known for her hit, “Bubbly.” Tickets will be $39-$79, with the “limited best seating” tickets , priced at $90.

Also Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, which has performed in Southern California venues including the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert and Moronco Casino Resort and Spa, will appear at the Fox on Friday, Oct. 18. The ticket prices have yet to be determined for this show. Contact the Fox box office at 951-779-9800 for ticket information on Thursday.

There’s also a comedy show on the calendar. Anjelah Johnson is so popular that her show at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 is sold out. The Fox has added a second show for Nov. 1 at 10:30 p.m. Tickets for Anjelah Johnson will be $25-$37, like the original show, with the “limited best seating” tickets priced at $49.

The pre-sale will run Thursday, Aug. 22 through Saturday, Aug. 24 and tickets will be available only at the Fox Performing Arts Center box office, either by walking up in person or by phone.

The phone number for the box office is 951-779-9800 and it is located at the theater at 3801 Mission Inn Ave. in Riverside.

The box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is also open on all show days until show time.

The tickets will be on sale via Ticketmaster on Sunday, Aug. 25.

TEMECULA: Service Interruption plays benefit show at The Vault

Local punk-inspired band Service Interruption is playing a show at The Vault in Temecula that is also a benefit for foster children.

The show is raiding donations for Sleep Train’s Foster Kids program. You can get $3 off the price of a ticket if you donates clothes, shoes (in good condition), or other items.

Stop the Phoenix and IWXO (which means I’m With Love and features Allstar Weekend’s Nathan Darmody) are also on the bill.
