Romano’s Concert Lounge loves The English Beat and frontman Dave Wakeling loves the Riverside venue, too.
The ska band, famous for songs such as “Mirror in the Bathroom” and “Save It For Later,” returns to the local spot for a concert on Saturday, Jan. 18.

After more than a decade of being an MC for Orange County’s Kottonmouth Kings, Johnny Richter has set forth to rule his own kingdom as a solo artist.

Richter started crafting some rhymes for what would become his new solo release, “FreeKING Out,” and he’s bringing it to Mission Tobacco lounge in Riverside on Friday, Jan. 17.

The EP is full of his real-life experiences, not all of them pretty.

Supporting him will be Mira Loma’s West of Mainstream and Redlands-based favorites 100 Proof.

RIVERSIDE: Julieta Venegas headed to the Muni

Live Nation has announced the first artist to be booked for the Riverside Municipal Auditorium when concert promoter takes over the venue this spring.

Pop-rock singer Julieta Venegas will perform in Riverside at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium on Friday, April 18.

Live Nation, which took control of the Fox Performing Arts Center in December, will operate the Muni after the renovated Riverside Convention Center reopens in March. (The Muni has been filling in for the Convention Center.)

Venegas, who sings in Spanish, has performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the past.  She’s also taken home multiple Latin Grammys as well as the Best Latin Pop Album for “Limon y Sal”  at the 2007 Grammy Awards.

She released her latest album, “Los Momentos,” in 2013.

Tickets are $33, before fees, and go on sale at noon on Friday, Jan. 17.  You can purchase them via www.livenation.com or at the box office of the Fox Performing Arts Center at 3801 Mission Inn Ave. in Riverside . The box office is open Monday through Friday noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on show days until show time.   You can also call the box office at 951-779-9800.

Kid Gramophone has been playing around the Inland Empire for the last few years and is poised to break out. This will be the band’s year.

Catch them before they blow up at Hangar 24’s Tasting Room in Redlands on Wednesday, Jan. 15. They will be playing some new material and friends Summon the Yeti will open the show.

Riverside is going global with a show at Morgan’s Tavern on Friday night.

Originally hailing from Germany, Lord Bishop Rocks describes its sound as “Hendrixian Motör Funk.” If metallic umlauts and Jimi Hendrix don’t draw you in, what will?

The band is on tour with Badlands Bandits, a band from the United Kingdom, who will also perform at the show.

Plus, there is local support from some bands worthy of getting there early to see, including Teenage Exorcists, Spiral Sons and Danger, Inc.

CORONA: Rockers Michael Schenker, Lita Ford head to M15

Get ready for a weekend full of guitar heroes in Corona as concert venue M15 hosts two shredders of the metal ilk.

Michael Schenker, he of Scorpions, UFO and Michael Schenker Group fame, will perform on Friday, Jan. 10 for what has become a semi-regular appearance at the venue.

The German guitarist is bringing his group Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock to town in support of the new album “Bridge the Gap,” which was released in November.

On Saturday, Jan. 11, the great Lita Ford returns to the M15 stage.

Known for her work in the all-female punk group The Runaways, Ford also had a successful solo career with hits such as “Kiss Me Deadly” and “Close My Eyes Forever,” a duet with Ozzy Osbourne.

Her latest album, “Living Like a Runaway,” was released in 2012.

Even though the date is April 1, it’s no joke that country music legend Willie Nelson is headed to the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside.

Nelson, a casino circuit regular around these parts, has also played both the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and the Stagecoach Country Music Festival.

One of the most iconic country performers still on the road today, Nelson is known for hits such as “Whiskey River,” “Always on My Mind” and “On the Road Again.”

Tickets are priced at $65-$96, before fees. Pre-sale tickets, for fan club members, VIP experiences and more, begin on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 10 a.m. Tickets go on sale to the general public at noon on Friday, Jan. 10.

Tickets are available at the Fox Performing Arts Center box office at 3801 Mission Inn Ave. and via Live Nation.

Florida band A Day To Remember is starting a new festival and it’s headed to San Bernardino. The Self Help Festival will be held March 22 at the National Orange Show Events Center in San Bernardino, CA.

The festival will include performances from A Day To Remember, Bring Me The Horizon, Of Mice & Men, The Story So Far, Memphis May Fire, Attila, The Word Alive, Stick To Your Guns, Issues, letlive, Terror, A Skylit Drive, Hands Like Houses, Hundredth, Beartooth and Rotting Out.

It’s an all-day show that starts at 1 p.m. Tickets are $39 and are available via Ticketfly.
