Too many journalists throw around data visualization as a buzz term. After learning some basics as a fellow at the Knight Digital Media Center in December 2011, it became my passion. One of my goals is to show that you can use data visualization for entertainment journalism.

Since 2012, I’ve been tracking the origins of the artists performing at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The original online and print presentation in 2012 netted The Press-Enterprise second place in the graphics category at the CNPA awards.
