AUDIO FILES: Listen to Coachella 2013 artist Bat for Lashes

I’m a big fan of the interactive graphics you can make on ThingLink and while I was just surfing their featured pieces, I came across one with Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival performer Bat for Lashes promoting her video for “Lilies.”

I’ve actually been using the website to create interactive graphics explaining the Coachella 2013 artists in a series we call Coachella Band Math. Our latest one features Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Hanni El Khatib and Jessie Ware. Plus, there are cameos by Sade and Madness.

Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace is bringing in a double bill of icons on Wednesday, Feb. 20. Marshall Crenshaw and Dave Alvin are teaming up for a show at the spot.

Crenshaw, beloved singer-songwriter best known for “Someday, Someway,” has recently started his own subscription music service for fans. Crenshaw plans to release six three-song 10-inch, 45 RPM vinyl EPs over the next two years for subscribers (who also get a download of the music).

Robots, metal and punk music. These are a few of my favorite things. Thankfully a friend sent me a video of Compressorhead, a band made up of robots that rock out. It’s like “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey” where the robots play, except these are way, way better.

Today was a really special day for me. I’m from Baltimore and I’m a huge football fan. I come from a family where the Colts’ Mayflower move 30 years ago is still a sore subject so to see my beloved team in the Super Bowl, and have Ray Lewis play his final game in it was just incredible.
