No, there is not a band at Coachella called The Portapotties. This is actually a review of the places that the lovely people at Goldenvoice have set up for us to empty our bladders in.

COACHELLA 2013: Gaslight Anthem glows brighter
The Gaslight Anthem played one of my most memorable Coachella Festival sets back in 2009, in the blazing hot sun on the Outdoor Theatre early in the day.
Two albums later the band played the Coachella Stage a little bit later in the afternoon on Sunday for Coachella 2013 with a larger crowd. Singer Brian Fallon

COACHELLA 2013: Rodriguez gets respect from crowd
There have been a lot of packed tents at Coachella this year, but Rodriguez has a heartfelt reception, despite some sound problems that plagued the beginning of the set.
It’s not the wild cheers of Franz Ferdinand fans at the Mojave or the insanity that was Major Lazer, but clear admiration and respect for the player.

COACHELLA 2013: Wind kicking up serious dust
The winds are kicking up even more as the sun goes down on the last night of Coachella Weekend 1.
The sky is filled with dust, creating a hazy, eerie sunset. People are wrapping up in sweatshirts if they brought them and whatever else they can find if they didn’t. An increasing number are covering their faces with bandanas to keep from breathing in the gunk.

COACHELLA 2013: Nightclub in the daytime at Sahara Tent
So last night I checked out the Sahara Tent, for the first time in my Coachella history, to see what it was really all about. I had a blast with the Moby dance party.

COACHELLA 2013: A rock-filled Sunday
Sunday afternoon, the stages at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival were dotted with delights.
The Three O’Clock’s reunion in the Gobi Tent was a bright spot of jangly power pop. The Los Angeles-based band is one of the reunion acts this year.
Then I went to check out JEFF the Brotherhood at the Outdoor Theatre, who are transitioning from being a two-piece band into a quartet. I also got to spend some time with guitarist Jake Orrall and drummer Jamin Orrall and talk music and more. Look for that interview in a bit.

COACHELLA 2013: Review of the Lumineers
The Lumineers like singalongs.
They tried to start off with some audience participation in the first song after their stage entrance, but the crowd wasn’t quite there yet, at least not in the area I was standing.

COACHELLA 2013: Festival blows in the wind
Coachella issued a high wind advisory through its app and posted it on video boards at the entrance, asking campers to take the tops off pop-up tents.
The breeze is blowing, but the gusts are brutal. Note for those headed to weekend two: glasses may be a better option than contacts.
COACHELLA 2013: A proposal under the Ferris wheel
Bryan Ralph and Heidi Marion fell in love at Coachella.
And after three years together, back at Coachella, Ralph popped the question.
